Developing a Conflict of Interest policy

The Incorporated Societies Act 2022, requires all clubs/societies to have a conflict of interest policy. Regardless of any legal requirement, it make good business sense to have both a policy and an associated interests register. Besides, it’s basically risk management in action, reducing financial and reputational risk.

Here is a generic “three pager” entitled “Conflict of Interest policy”complete with an explanatory text, a draft policy and a conflict of interest register for recording the board member’s potential conflicts.

Is it any good? Only time will tell.
